Prof. Dr. Konstantina Papathanasiou, LL.M., holds the Professorship of Economic Criminal Law, Compliance and Digitalization at the University of Liechtenstein, since September 1, 2021. She pursued her legal studies from 2001-2005, and completed a Master’s degree in Criminal Law in Athens. From 2008 onwards, she received the DAAD-Scholarship at the University of Heidelberg to pursue her research, where she subsequently, among others, completed her doctorate in 2010-2013 as a scholarship holder of the Alexander Onassis Foundation. With a habilitation scholarship from the University of Regensburg, funded by the german Federal Ministry of Education and Research, she worked on her habilitation thesis from 2017-2020. She habilitated in March 2021 and was subsequently awarded the venia legendi for criminal law, criminal procedural law, economic criminal law, international criminal law, comparative law and legal philosophy. Since 2016 she is a visiting professor at the Faculté Libre de Droit in Paris, and in 2018 she was at the Collège de France on a 2-month research fellowship.
